The Two Factor

The Two Factor started when Jon Malone was tuning the ukuleles at The Music Store in Tulsa, OK. One six-stringed uke caught his eye, so he walked around the store playing a riff on it. Johnny Dova was at the drum counter and heard the idea. Like one would do, he started tapping the beat on his leg, the counter top, and he even made the cymbal noises with his mouth; Immediately stating, “That’s the beat.”

That, indeed, was the beat.

The Two Factor is made up of two figurative giants; both having honed their craft in practice rooms and smelly bars across and around the globe. 

Jon Malone’s first notable band, Greenwater Mirror, was based in Tahlequah and played around the region in the 1990s. In the 2000s, he found himself featured as a comedic performer in Ad-libs Improv in Dallas, TX. At the same time, his band Tranny found commercial success with the song “Same”. Currently, his band, The House on Bluff, has started pre-production for a full-length album.

Johnny Dova discovered the drums at age 7 and was encouraged by hisparents to pursue the instrument. John played in elementary and middle school groups and decided to stick with music instead of sports. Taking lessons from world-renowned instructors, he learned to be versatile and read music. Johnny currently works in Tulsa as a freelance drummer playing with various groups including The Two Factor. Johnny also puts on Latin Drum programs at the metro Tulsa Libraries and teaches kids who may never have the chance to play percussion. He learned a long time ago to not focus on music genres but remember there are only 2 types of music: Good & Bad.

The Two Factor performs a mix of covers and originals spanning seven decades. The talent and chemistry between Jon Malone and Johnny Dova is undeniable. The quirk level is off the charts, providing for a fun and memorable event.
