From the deep roots of Opelika, Alabama rises Septarian—a seismic force in modern metal. This band delivers an unrelenting storm of razor-sharp guitars, thunderous bass lines, and double kicks that hit like war drums, all driven by the commanding voice of Megan Hudson—evoking the raw power of icons like Angela Gossow. With a sound forged in the fires of doom and groove metal, and riffs echoing Sepultura’s grit, Septarian bleeds authenticity.
The band’s history runs deep. Guitarist Josh Cunningham and drummer Kenneth Galloway first collided in the Alabama metal scene with Double Barrell Democracy back in 2010. Bassist John Martin (of Hematovore and Couch) joined the fold in 2016. Then, in 2017, frontwoman Megan Hudson unleashed her fury into the mix, birthing Septarian as we know it. Their lineup was solidified in 2024 with the addition of guitarist Nick Thiessen.
This crew has earned their scars—opening for heavyweights like Fear Factory, Raven, Fallujah, Beyond Creation, Obscura, and more. Their name has appeared on festival lineups including the Summer Slaughter Tour and Queen City Metal Fest, gripping crowds across the Southeast.
In 2020, Septarian dropped their debut demo Bludgeon the Offended, a savage display of technical precision and raw energy, mixed and mastered by James Uertz (Silvercord Studio). In 2022, they followed with Threshold, recorded at Led Belly Studio, complete with a visual companion to match its intensity. In 2023, thet marooned up for the first time with The Mailstrom Studio to record their newest single, Gravity.
Currently signed with Dark Sails Entertainment (Atlanta, GA), the band is now working with The Maelstrom Studio to record their next sonic assault. With an eye on new stages and states, and a growing fanbase in tow, Septarian shows no sign of slowing down.
They aren’t just a band—they’re a tribe. A movement. And they’re just getting started.
