Bio
Born in San Jose, growing up in the Sunnyhills section of Milpitas, California, Ron Scott began playing keyboard as a hobby. Although he is self taught and plays by ear, he developed into a brilliant keyboardist, who plays split keys, incorporating left hand bass. This pianist, keyboardist, composer, and bandleader has a sound that joins the smooth with the funky, including Neo Jazz, spicy Latin rhythms and R&B. At the age of 34, Scott created his first band The 650 Connection. The band had many successful ventures, opening for recording artist Chaka Khan, Temptations, Whispers, American Idol's Latoya London, Greg Karukas, Lenny Williams, Raheem Devaughn, Lakeside, Regina Belle, El Chicano, The DeBarges, Rose Royce, Billy Preston, The O'Jays, Byron Miller and more. He has released three CD’s, including his recent solo album Ron Scott “In the Keys of Love”. This project flirts with an array of genres ranging from Smooth, Fusion, Samba to R&B ballads. It includes a few tracks with vocals from Tony Lindsay of Santana and percussions from Juan Escovedo of the E Family. Recently Ron has signed with Spectra Jazz and looks forward to his new venture as a recording artist. He is currently playing live on Bay Area Jazz stations, at local outdoor venues, restaurants and private gigs with the Ron Scott Quartet or Ron Scott & Friends where he includes other up and coming artist from the Bay Area to display their talents. He continues to practice, study and create good music. He hopes to travel worldwide, spreading his sound.
