It’s always a great day when we get unveil a new release from a new band. 7-piece folk-rock band Dunkirk Riots hail from Norfolk, Virginia with a signature sound steeped in both Celtic and European Folk traditions combined with a high-energy punk rock ethos!
Dunkirk Riots hail from Norfolk in Virginia in the Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States. Home to the Appalachian mountains and Shenandoah Valley the State has one of the largest Scotch-Irish communities in the country with their ancestors arriving in the 18th and 19th centuries. The Scotch-Irish number almost 150,00 and added to the Irish they number just under a million and total 12% of the states population. So with a pretty substantial Celtic and Irish history it was quite a surprise to find that they are only the second Virginian band to feature on these pages in our 15 year history after The Fighting Jamesons.
Wow quite the opening volley from Celtic-Punks newest band. Taking the more trad. Folk route than what we usually hear – more Molly than Murphy. Released this weekend the band promise more music soon and plans are coming along for their debut album. - London Celtic Punks
