Translated:
HARD-ROCK • Opened in 2015 Steamvalve Nation is a tough train, crowded with HARD ROCK and rolling full steam.

Their sound is rock STRONG, POWERFUL and CATCHY. Several different styles found there from the "Old School". Among others, we can discern the influences of Poison, Alice Cooper and Johnny Winter. Terry Tuccori (group leader) knows very well fuel the fire inside this American band from Chicago. He sings of a rich and powerful voice particularly well controlled. His guitar playing is simple, but extremely effective. The melodies are catchy as can be, we want more !!! Of the four first songs available on their website include the play "Roll with it" (see video at the bottom of this topic). Members of the group from left to right: Vanessa Camacho (voice), Frank Conway (bass), Terry Tuccori (guitar and vocals), Victor Arre (drums) and Dalia Hotpants (voice). STEAMVALVE NATION

Leur son rock est SOLIDE, PUISSANT et ACCROCHEUR. On y retrouve plusieurs styles différents issus du « Old School ».

"Global Rock Star"

“In the US, the band Steamvalve Nation, headed by singer and guitarist Terry Tuccori, triumphed over other American musicians in the pre-selections. The members of Steamvalve Nation said that they intended to engage the public with a musical journey of sound and vision. Obviously, they succeeded: their fans rewarded this plan not only with an extraordinary amount of votes on Facebook and Twitter, but also with a remarkable number of Megavotes” - - Mirella Maiolo, PR Newswire (Dec 03, 2015)

Holy Steamvalve!!

Honorary Artist of the Month for January 2015 is Steamvalve Nation, from the U.S.A.!

Steamvalve Nation was formed in the summer of 2013 and later added backing vocals and brass to broaden the dimension of the music. Steamvalve Nation’s philosophy is to create feel good music, with a classic rock edge and relative storylines. They perform hard rocking tunes and create a journey of sound and vision that challenges the audience.

Steamvalve Nation rounds out the look with a steampunk flair and creates a live, mystical, experience, turning the stage into a post industrial futuristic scene.

The band name was, originally, only Steamvalve. We then added Nation to it – to unite everybody in it. We’re all here on the same planet, we are all one people. Music is universal, it calms people, it brings people together, is positive in a negative world, and the best thing about it is, it’s timeless.

How did it start with music?

Terry: My first influences were from my mom – country western from the radio. I then moved towards rock and roll – I have two older sisters and they dated musicians…

I started playing drums in the 70s, borrowed from one of my sisters’ boyfriends. I set it in the basement and started banging around on them. Then my grandparents told me ‘Get out of that basement!’ so I switched to acoustic guitar. It was a bit more on the curve!

Victor: I started playing drums probably around age 10. I couldn’t get my fingers around the neck of a guitar so after two weeks of guitar lessons I thought ‘This is not fun!’ and switched to percussions!

My inspiration comes from lots of people, I like jazz, I like blues…

Frank: When I was little I used to put on records of the latest hits and sing and dance along with my brother and sister… that’s how it started.

What is your music writing process?

Terry: I don’t force myself. I usually sit down and come up with a riff. Then extend and expand on that, let it happen naturally… a meditation kind of thing. It’s all stuff already there in the universe, it’s up to you to let it come into your being and figure out where you want to go with it. Songwriting is almost like crafting wine, if you will, let it age a little bit. You have a first draft, a second draft, a third draft… and then a final draft.

Frank: For me the bass is interesting, because I also play guitar and when you play guitar you’re usually doing the upper melodies, the more forefront melody of the song. With the bass I’m driving with the drummer – and Victor is a good drummer. I kind of ride along with him and stay in the groove with him; usually the ideas come to me that way. While with the guitar you go more with the vocals and singing part. It’s two different animals.

What is it with the steampunk theme? You really put a lot into your stage shows!

Terry: Yeah! Because I believe this is show business and when a band comes out to play it should deliver a show. I also make all the props. I make everything! I get the creativity from my ma. This industrious creativity is part of the steampunk culture – that’s what it’s all about, being creative!

Frank: I like the fact that people involved with steampunk are really creative too! They’re inventors, they like to take things and make cool stuff out of it, recreating historical gear from back in the 1800s. Just like they were doing in the 1800s, they were inventing and trying different things, trying to make the world a better place.

I like that we take rock and roll and infuse it into it, with the same creative spirit. Theatrically, we can use the fashion and all, and it’s fun for the fans! They can dress up like that too! It’s a fun attitude – not too serious. - Monica Mel-Global Rock Star

"Steamvalve Nation"

Steamvalve Nation has invaded Chicago. Their objective: to rock! Guitarist and vocalist Terry “The Punisher” Tuccori was kind enough to answer a few of our questions.

Steampunks find inspiration in the past. Steamvalve Nation finds inspiration in classic hard rock. Where do the two meet?

Steamvalve Nation is inspired by classic hard rock, which just doesn’t stop there. We like to take it steps further, taking a fresh and modern approach to songwriting and sound crafting. We like to embellish and roll it into a fantasy, giving the audience much more than they anticipated. We use the theatrical Steampunk approach to engage the audience in a sci-fi fantasy adventure, to stimulate all the senses. So we find inspiration in the past, yet create an era of awe and mystery.

What can we learn from our rock history?

What goes around comes around; there is no such thing as originality. The only original element is the voice. If you really want to look at it, Amadeus Mozart was the first rock star, and Beethoven. The monarchy kept those guys, paying them royalties. They locked themselves in rooms for months writing music. They had multiple lovers on a daily basis, living as good as the royalty was keeping them, all in return for the gift of music.

On Reverbnation.com, you’ve been #1 locally, in the Top 20 nationally and Top 50 globally. To what do you owe the success?

Well recently we have been #1 Nationally and #3 Globally, That fluctuates, but we’ve been maintaining our #1 spot locally for awhile now. It’s about social media, and we work long and hard to get our music out there. We aren’t interested in what record labels have to say, we just want the whole world to hear us, and if someone can hear us and it shifts their day around and they say I like it, we’ve done our job. Yes, it would be nice to be compensated for it, everyone wants to be paid for their labors, but for right now the music is our gratification.

Your Reverbnation page points out that 50% of the sales go to the Keep a Child Alive charity. Can you tell us more about your involvement?

Unfortunately the involvement is not much, because it’s hard to actually sell music. We hope that changes one day when people become more interested in our music. We picked this charity because children are our future. If we don’t nurture and educate children, what sort of future will we have? The videos show children in Africa, with no parents and living in communities ravaged by HIV. But this is a worldwide problem and affects us all.

Fire It UpWhat does the future hold for Steamvalve Nation?

Steamvalve Nation is putting together a show which includes more “traditional” Steampunk musicians and actors, and hope to showcase this summer sometime. We are writing and getting ready to record next month, and just want to keep putting the music out to the world.

Bonus question: Do cultural or political ties hold the Steamvalve Nation together?

Absolutely not, we do what we want in the name of freedom.

“Definite tight band sound here, style similar to Poison with "brass instruments" included. Enjoyable pop-rock band with groove. Some professional editing, some smoothing of the mix of vocals to the music and this is a sure hit! Very enjoyable group. I give them six FlashBombs.” - - Rusty Barnacles, CrankIt (Jan 07, 2015)
